Housekeeping Manager

Job Summary:
The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping department, ensuring that all areas of the [hotel/resort/residential community] are clean, well-maintained, and meet the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. The Housekeeping Manager will lead, train, and motivate a team of housekeeping staff to deliver exceptional service and maintain a positive and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate housekeeping staff.

Schedule and assign duties to housekeeping team members, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts.

Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, standards, and updates.

Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and professional development.

Operational Management:

Oversee the daily operations of the housekeeping department, including cleaning of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas.

Ensure that all housekeeping activities are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and equipment, and place orders as needed.

Inspect rooms and public areas to ensure they meet cleanliness and maintenance standards.

Address and resolve any guest complaints or issues related to housekeeping services promptly and professionally.

Quality Assurance:

Develop and implement cleaning protocols and standards to ensure consistency and quality.

Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas to ensure compliance with cleanliness and maintenance standards.

Implement corrective actions as needed to address any deficiencies.

Budget Management:

Assist in the preparation and management of the housekeeping department budget.

Monitor and control expenses, including labor costs and supply usage, to ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.

Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

Health and Safety:

Ensure that all housekeeping staff are trained in and adhere to health and safety regulations.

Maintain a safe working environment by identifying and addressing potential hazards.

Ensure that all cleaning chemicals and equipment are used safely and stored properly.

Guest Relations:

Interact with guests to ensure their satisfaction and address any concerns related to housekeeping services.

Respond to guest requests and special needs in a timely and professional manner.

Maintain a high level of guest service and ensure that the housekeeping team delivers a positive guest experience.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Housekeeping Manager or in a similar role within the hospitality industry.

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

In-depth knowledge of housekeeping operations, cleaning techniques, and sanitation standards.

Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in using housekeeping software and other relevant computer applications.

High school diploma or equivalent; additional qualifications in hospitality or management are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.

Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).

Ability to bend, stoop, and reach overhead.
