Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Agricultural Economist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in economics, with a focus on agricultural and rural development. The Agricultural Economist will conduct research, analyze data, and provide insights to inform policy decisions, improve agricultural productivity, and enhance the economic viability of farming systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct economic research and analysis on agricultural markets, trade, and policy.

Develop and apply economic models to assess the impact of agricultural policies and programs.

Analyze data on crop production, livestock, and farm income to identify trends and opportunities.

Provide recommendations to improve the efficiency and sustainability of agricultural systems.

Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and private sector partners, to develop and implement agricultural policies and programs.

Prepare reports, policy briefs, and presentations to communicate research findings to a variety of audiences.

Monitor and evaluate the economic impact of agricultural interventions and programs.

Stay informed about global and regional trends in agriculture, trade, and rural development.

Contribute to the development of funding proposals and grant applications.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Economics, or a related field.

Proven experience in economic research and analysis, preferably in the agricultural sector.

Strong quantitative skills, including proficiency in statistical software (e.g., STATA, R, SAS) and economic modeling.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.

Knowledge of agricultural markets, trade policies, and rural development issues.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Experience with GIS and spatial analysis is a plus.
