Farm Manager

Job Summary:
The Farm Manager will be responsible for the overall management and operation of the farm, ensuring efficient production, maintaining high standards of animal welfare and crop management, and achieving financial and operational goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agriculture, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for sustainable farming practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

Plan, organize, and manage daily farm operations, including planting, harvesting, irrigation, and pest control.

Oversee the care and management of livestock, ensuring their health, welfare, and productivity.

Implement and maintain sustainable farming practices to optimize yield and minimize environmental impact.

Team Leadership:

Recruit, train, and supervise farm staff, providing guidance and support to ensure a productive and positive work environment.

Schedule and assign tasks to employees, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely completion of work.

Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff.

Financial Management:

Develop and manage the farm budget, monitoring expenses and revenues to ensure financial sustainability.

Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure the best prices for inputs and services.

Maintain accurate records of farm operations, including production, inventory, and financial data.

Compliance and Safety:

Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to agriculture, labor, and environmental protection.

Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect workers, livestock, and crops.

Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in agriculture.

Strategic Planning:

Develop and implement long-term plans to improve farm productivity, sustainability, and profitability.

Identify opportunities for diversification and expansion of farm operations.

Collaborate with stakeholders, including owners, investors, and community members, to achieve farm objectives.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Agribusiness, or a related field (preferred).

Proven experience in farm management or a similar role.

Strong knowledge of crop and livestock management, sustainable farming practices, and agricultural equipment.

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently, make informed decisions, and solve problems effectively.

Proficiency in using farm management software and other relevant technology.

Physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions.
